Join Flickr

For photography 1 class, you will need to create a flickr account. This needs to be completed by Tuesday, the 25th in order to turn in your selective color assignment. To do this follow, the instructions below. You will need to create a yahoo account for this. If you already have a yahoo account or a google account, just log in.

1. Go to www.flickr.com

2. In the top right hand corner of the screen there will be a link to "create your account" - or "sign in" if you already have a flickr account.

3. On the bottom right hand side of the screen click "create new account" and follow the instructions on the screen

4. Log into your flickr account

5. Create a flickr screen name - It should include your first initial (or first name) and last name - These will be looked at by professionals, peers and administrators. If your name is already taken, try different combinations using your first initial, middle initial or even adding numbers at the end. I will need to be able to recognize your account name for grading purposes. If your name is not professional, you will not be allowed into the group.

6. Write down your informations somewhere so that you can remember your id.

7. Once you have logged on, you will need to join the Howard photo 1 group. To do this, do one of the following.

A. Search for "howard photo 1". Click on the groups tab and it should be the first one on the list.

B. Go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/howardphoto1/

8. Join the group

IMPORTANT NOTES:

- This online portfolio is for artwork only. This is not a portfolio to showcase pictures of your friends, pets, etc.

- You can upload artwork you do outside of this class

- Your user name is very important, it needs to be professional.

- If you have any questions, email me or talk to me during class. Not understanding this procedure is not an excuse for being late or not completing the task.

Selective Coloring

Your next photoshop problem will be to add color (or take color away) from a very specific area of an image. Artists use selective color to add emphasis to a certain area, lead the viewers eye through an image or to create / change the mood of an image.

Problem Specs:
Must use your own photography.
This can be digital or a darkroom print.
Must add color for a specific reason (see the 3 above)
Image has been fully restored
Image has been uploaded to the flickr group pool.
